LED is the abbreviation of light emitting diode (light emitting diode). Its basic structure is a piece of electroluminescent semiconductor material, which is placed on a shelf with leads, and then sealed with epoxy resin around. With appropriate voltage, it can emit light normally.

General knowledge of LED chip size:

According to the shape classification, chips are generally divided into wafer and square. The wafer is relatively low grade; Square pieces are generally measured by size, such as 12mil (1mil = 0.0254 square mm). Generally speaking, for chips of the same brand, the larger the chip size, the higher the brightness. The most commonly used LED lamp beads, red and yellow light are generally in 9 ~ 12mil, white, blue, green light are generally in 12 ~ 14mil, which is also the most commonly used chip on the market. If you use a larger chip, the brightness can be improved a lot, but the chip price is greatly increased, which is why the brighter large-size chip is not widely used.

Common sense of LED chip quantity:

For the same LED lamp, the most common way is to use only one chip, but two or even up to four or five chips can be used in different situations. For example, a straw hat lamp can use one or two chips (considering its small size, inconvenient heat dissipation and unstable performance, generally only one or two chips are used); A piranha lamp can use one, two, three or four chips; Chip 3528 lamp can use one, two, three chips, chip 5050 / 5060 generally use three chips. Special note: when three chips are used for SML, there are two cases:

1. The color of the three chips is exactly the same;

2. The three chips are red, green and blue, which are called RGB lamp.
